I’m so excited to see that the new library in North Dartmouth is officially open for business. Residents in that area have an open community space to discover its endless possibilities.

After months of construction, the new branch opened its doors on Monday, January 27. The project broke ground back in July of 2018 and was expected to open in October of 2019, but a few issues popped up and delayed the big reveal. However, after visiting myself I can promise you that it was worth the wait.

From the high ceilings and quiet study rooms to the community room which included a built-in projector and sound system, it's obviously a serious upgrade from the former library on Tucker Road. The children's room offers an added touch with a craft room and a sink just in case things get messy.

I cannot wait to bring my nephews here to explore and have fun.

Sharani Robins is the Branch Librarian and Lynne Antunes is the Director of Libraries. Antunes was extremely helpful and provided a tour of the sparkling new library.

"Welcome to the library in the woods!"

The open concept is incredible and actually makes it even more inviting. The large windows overlooking the trees really do make you feel like you're in the middle of the woods somewhere. Antunes mentioned that there is a patio space that they plan on opening so that guests can read and work outside.

Honestly, I can't wait to grab a cup of coffee and sit out here to do anything at all. On the other hand, I'm all about these awesome green chairs in the Young Adult section that I've affectionately dubbed "The Avocados." Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees it.

And just in case you were worried that there wouldn't be enough staff to help you get in and get out, the library is equipped with self-checkout stations so you can be on your way.
