As the New England Patriots head into the half of their opening night matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, ahead 14-3, here are some thoughts on the first half of action.

Brady On Fire- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has come out strong in the first half of the regular season. Brady picked apart the Steelers' sub-par defense in the first two quarters, going 15-17 for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Much like I predicted yesterday, Brady has looked electric early.

Gronk Spike Is Back- After sitting dormant most of the first half Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was targeted by Brady for both of the team's scores. He ended the first half with three catches for 41 yards and the two touchdowns. Gronk also displayed his patented touchdown spike after both scores, which riled up the fans.

Edelman & Lewis Lead The Pack- Wide receiver Julian Edelman and running back Dion Lewis have led the way for New England's passing attack all night. Edelman has snagged six passes for 60, while Lewis has chipped in with three catches for 32 yards. Lewis has also added six carries for 21 yards. All in all, Brady has hit six different Patriots with passes in the first half.

Pats D Lives Up To Mantra- As they have become known for, the Patriots defense bent a number of times in the first half but they managed to withstand breaking. Of course they were helped out by Steelers' kicker Josh Scobe's inability to make two field goals and Darrius Heyward-Bay's inability to stay in bounce on an easy touchdown reception.

All in all, New England has looked like the far superior team through two quarters. Expect more of the same in the second half.
