A lot of fast food restaurants now have automated greetings that are not the same person on the other side. Am I the only one who finds this weird?

I'm not sure if any of you have picked up on this recently when you're in the drive through. Once you get to the section to order you get blasted by the world's happiest fast food worker. "HELLO WELCOME TO ____ TRY OUR SPECIAL SPECIAL TODAY WHILE SUPPLIES LAST" is quickly followed by your typical greeter sounding like a mix of puberty and teenage angst.

I guess my main question is do these responses actually work? Never once have I heard this voice over the speaker telling me about the new hamburger that's unlike everything else and thought to myself that's exactly what I want. Not only that but what's the need for it? Do the companies really have no faith in their workers that they won't let them greet themselves to the customer? It always shocks me when the person behind the speaker switches. It doesn't make me any less hungry just uncomfortable.

Let me know how you have felt. Have you experienced this as well? Leave your story!
