With the school year coming to a close, you might be looking for something for your kids to do this summer and NB Parks & Rec has the answer!

Each year, New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches rolls out their summer program that allows kids of all ages (18 and under!) to come to local parks for lunch, actitvities, music, and sports and games. The organizers of the event understand that some kids may be missing out on lunch during the summer when they aren't at school, or are maybe spending the majority of their days alone while parents or gaurdians work. And that's not the most fun summer for anyone.

So every day, from June 27 - August 24, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., the New Bedford Parks, Recreation and Beaches will be hosting events in city parks and invites everyone to attend. Not only will there be lunch and snacks, but also a huge variety of activites for every age group. This is such a great opportunity for kids to be invovled with their community, meeting new friends, staying active, and most importantly, getting a healthy meal that they might otherwise go without.

And summer showers won't stop the Play in the Park events from happening. On the days it's a little too rainy for the parks, you can visit the Andrea McCoy Recreation Center, Brooklawn Park, Roberto Clemente, Riverside Park, and West Bank Pavilion.

Join the kick-off event at Harrington Beach in New Bedford on Thursday, June 28.
