Samantha Johnson, a young singer from New Bedford, will appear on “America’s Got Talent” tonight at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Johnson, 26, spoke to SouthCoast Today about her appearance on the show saying she was nervous.

"I feel more nervous about this coming on TV than the day I filmed it," she said. "So many people are going to see it."

The aspiring entertainer grew up on Cape Cod then eventually moved to New Bedford and attended Normandin Middle School and New Bedford High School.

The former Normandin Middle School Drama Club director says she has tried out for “American Idol” in the past, but has never gotten really far.

Though Johnson isn’t allowed to disclose any details of her performance she did say her audition was held in Los Angeles.

Johnson comes from a talented family, her sister Marlena is the current Miss Fall River and was Miss New Bedford in 2012.
