NEW BEDFORD – A New Bedford woman who allegedly made serious threats to police departments, colleges, and other organizations across Massachusetts faces additional charges.

The Cape Cod Times reports Heather Perkins, 37, was arraigned Wednesday in Falmouth District Court on charges of making a false crime report, criminal harassment, making a bomb or hijack threat and making a bomb or hijack threat causing serious public alarm.

The charges come after Perkins allegedly sent a number of emails to members of the Bourne Police Department in July stating that her boyfriend was going to shoot up the police station and a courthouse.

Perkins is said to have made similar threats to a total of 25 organizations, including police departments in Dartmouth, New Bedford, Barnstable, and Dennis, as well as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Bridgewater State University and Springfield College. She also allegedly directed threats to members of the WBSM staff.

Perkins was arrested on July 27 in Boston. She’s due back in Falmouth District Court on October 12 for a probable cause hearing.

An arrest warrant for Perkins was also issued Tuesday out of Orleans District Court for failure to appear for an arraignment there.

Police say none of the threats appeared to be credible.
