NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford woman faces charges after police say she drunkenly crashed her vehicle into a parked car and fled the scene.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a parked car in the area of 135 Dartmouth Street at about 5:54 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle reportedly fled the scene.

New Bedford Police soon found the vehicle suspected of causing the crash in the area of Grape and Short Streets.

Upon further investigation, police determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Police arrested the driver, Shannon Medeiros, 47, of 69 Delano Street, Apt. 1, New Bedford. Medeiros has been charged with operating under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene after causing property damage.
