New Bedford Voc-Tech Seniors Move On

As New Bedford Regional Voc-Tech seniors made sure which side of the cap their gold tassels were on, family and friends eagerly waited for the 38th graduation ceremony to begin on Wednesday afternoon.

Proud parents watched on as students accepted their diplomas. Some will move on to college life, while others go straight into their work fields.

Senior class President, Mary Phair says she has a lot of memories at Voc, but looks forward to making more at New Haven University.

"There are a lot of ups and downs. There are a lot of good times with friends and memories made, and I'm definitely going to miss it, but can't wait for college" Phair said before the ceremony.

Donning her green cap and gown, Valedictorian, Kimberly Garcia told WBSM News that attending a vocational school gives her an advantage over others who attended public schools. "To have a technical career area is a doorway to a lot of different opportunities," she said.

Garcia was among the 30 students New Bedford Voc-Tech boasted in this year's National Honor Society, along with 40 total seniors graduating with honors.
