New Bedford Police make arrest

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday night by New Bedford Police on gun and drug charges. Officers responded to a report of shots being fired at 20 Ashley St., according to police.

Cops arrested William Mendez-Rodriguez of 20 Ashley St. he is being charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a firearm without a license, a firearm violation with one prior violent/drug crime, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, resisting arrest and carrying a loaded firearm, The Police also found almost five thousand dollars

Officers saw the suspect with a gun in his hand and ordered him to drop the gun,after a brief chase he was arrested.
