New Bedford Police are reminding residents to lock their cars when unattended.

Police arrested an 18-year-old New Bedford man early Thursday morning after he was seen trying to break into at least six vehicles parked near Melville Towers on Pleasant Street. Police have charged 18-year-old Christian Francois with breaking and entering in the nighttime.

Police say keeping your car doors locked and valuables out of plain sight can reduce the chances of your vehicle being broken into.
