New Bedford Police are investing an incident in the area of Emma Street in the city's South End Tuesday evening in which initial scanner reports suggest shots were fired.

Scanner reports came in shortly before 7 p.m. suggesting that there were shots fired in the area of 95 Emma Street.

Police would only confirm there was an argument which resulted in two people being injured. They say one was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, the other to Rhode Island Hospital. Both injuries are non-life-threatening.

Police say the investigation is very active at this time, and will provide an update on Wednesday morning.
