New Bedford Police are investigating after a man was stabbed Tuesday night.

Sgt. Victor Mendes says a man was walking down Ashley Blvd. around 11:55 p.m. when he was approached by a group of three males.

They asked the victim for cigarettes and money and was attacked when he refused.

The victim's girlfriend took him to St. Luke's Hospital and he was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was last listed in stable condition.

Mendes says the suspects were described two dark skinned, possibly hispanic, males and one white male.
