New Bedford Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a house break in the city earlier this month.

Police say on August 12th, a resident returned to his apartment in the area of Tinkham and Hope streets and found his home broken into, with personal belongings missing.

After an investigation, police obtained a warrant for 43-year-old Kevin Samuel Souto. Souto was spotted Thursday by police riding his bicycle near Sawyer Street and Acushnet Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and has been arraigned in New Bedford District Court on charges of breaking and entering and larceny in a building.

Souto has no current address and police are seeking information from the public about him or where he may have been residing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Raul Espinal at 508-991-6300 ext. 79509 or leave an anonymous tip at 508-99-CRIME.
