NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police make an arrest in connection to an armed robbery.

At 2:09 p.m. on Thursday, New Bedford Police received a report of an armed robbery at the Atlantic Seafood Market at 60 Madeira Avenue in the city's North End.

A description of the suspect was soon transmitted to police officers. The suspect reportedly used a knife in the robbery.

Narcotics detectives patrolling the North End of the city soon observed a man matching the suspect description run into a six-family home at 531 North Front Street. Police established a perimeter around the home and entered the building. The suspect, Brandon Tetreault, 30, with a last known address of 166 Nash Road, New Bedford, was arrested without incident at 2:45 p.m.

The suspect’s clothing, mask, weapon (knife) and the stolen $145.00 in cash were all located in the apartment as well. The stolen money was returned to the store.

Tetreault has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Tetreault has a long criminal record, including an open case in New Bedford District Court for Malicious Destruction of Property and Threatening. Mr. Tetreault was free on personal recognizance on this matter.

On March 6, 2015, Tetreault was sentenced to one year in prison for an Assault and Battery on a Household member and served 56 days with the balance being suspended.

On December 6, 2010, Tetreault was sentenced to 18 months in prison for Violating a restraining order, Property Violation, Threatening and Vandalism. He served 102 days with the balance being suspended.

Tetreault was arraigned and ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing and his bail on his pending open case was revoked.
