The Standard Times had a heartwarming story this morning. A New Bedford man lost his NEW wedding ring the day before Valentine's Day. Now that the snow has melted, a Middleboro man has returned his precious treasure to him!

Timothy, 32, and Ashley Abdow were married in October of last year. Just four months later, Timothy's tungsten band flew into a nearby 4-foot snow bank when he took his gloves off. He works for Barnes Tree Service and was on a job at Pleasant Street that day. In a panic, he searched through the snow, but to no avail.

“I was heartbroken. It was the day before Valentine’s too,” he said, adding that his wife also was upset. He returned a few weeks later when some snow melted with no luck. instead, he left an "envelope with his information on the nearest neighbor’s door."

Donna Mix sympathized with Abdow and spread the word to her neighbor, Billy Hatch. He promised to keep an eye out for the ring while walking dogs for the neighbors. A few weeks passed without a trace of the ring, but the tides turned Friday afternoon.

Hatch saw something shiny reflecting in the sunlight by a two-foot snowbank. He realized it was the ring and "was shocked to find it." He returned the ring to Mix who immediately called Abdow. After picking up the ring at Mix's house, Abdow stopped by the friendly neighbor's home to thank him for finding the priceless ring.

Mix spoke highly of Hatch. “Billy is our hero. He was so excited to find it.” Hatch said it was the only thing he could do to help Abdow. “I was thinking of the guy. This is his wedding ring you know,” he said. “I was just so happy for him.”

What a wonderful story to start off this warm(er) season!
