A 32-year-old New Bedford man died on Wednesday afternoon of a suspected heroin overdose just days after being saved with Narcan from another overdose.

The Standard Times reports that the man's body was found in his apartment in the 800-block of Pleasant Street around 12:30 p.m. by a friend he had met in rehab.

The same man had overdosed in his apartment on Sunday morning, only to be revived with Narcan and taken to St. Luke's Hospital.

He was not so lucky this time around and became the city's third overdose death in the last five days.

Police say a hypodermic needle was found at the scene and the man's body was turned over to the state medical examiner's office.
