New Bedford Man Charged With The Sexual Assualt Of A Child

19-year-old Jordan Bennett of New Bedford was arraigned in New Bedford District Court today, and cash bail was set at $5,000.

Bennett is charged with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old child several times between September and December of 2012. The family reportedly became aware of the alleged abuse last month after being contacted by school officials.

The judge in the case also ordered Bennet to have no contact with the victim and his family, and to stay away from their home.
