A city man has been arrested in connection with six robberies that took place in New Bedford.

Lt. Amos Melo says that 46-year-old Scott Almeida was arrested Oct. 3 for an armed robbery that took place that day at Jalice Café at 1468 Acushnet Ave.

Following Almeida's arrest investigators were able to link him to two unarmed robberies which took place Sept. 3 and Oct. 1, an armed robbery which took place Aug. 29, and attempted armed robbery, Aug. 31 all of which occurred at the same 7-11 at 1499 Acushnet Ave.

Police executed a search warrant at his home, 119 Phillips Ave. #2, and found scratch tickets with serial numbers that matched tickets taken during one of the robberies and clothing that fit the description of clothes worn during some of the 7-11 robberies.

In addition Almeida was charged with the Sept. 29 armed robbery of Our Lady of Angels Band Club, at 1446 Acushnet Ave.

Melo says Almeida is currently being held at the Ash St. Jail in New Bedford.
