If you're a homeowner looking to complete a few projects around the house this year, chances are you paid a visit to the 28th annual New Bedford Home Show at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School this weekend.

The event, sponsored by the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce, offers home improvement tips and ideas from over 100 vendors and exhibitors.

Over the course of two days, nearly 2,000 people attended, according to Deven Tillman, the Chamber's programs and events manager. "Twenty-eight years is a long time, it's become quite a staple event and it's really fun," she added.

From solar energy, heating resources, windows, bath fittings and lawn care to homemade soaps and fresh vegetables, it was hard not to find something that could add a little something to your home.

A display by Silverbrook Farm in Acushnet offered a look at their variety of offerings, from summertime fun on the farm to their Community Supported Agriculture program. Events like the Home Show allow for increased promotion of the farm.

"We have spread a lot of the word, we've got our business out there," said Katie, who works alongside owner JJ Pereira.

Their "mascot" Carl the Crow also helped draw in the little ones for some fun pictures.

There were other opportunities for some family fun, including the Princesses of New Bedford, story telling and fresh popped kettle corn.

On Saturday, winner of The Food Network's Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen Jose Rego held a cooking seminar, while on Sunday, New England Partiots Hall of Famer Steve Nelson stopped by to sign autographs, with donations going to Odie's Place Animal Shelter.
