Tropical Storm Hermine is headed to the Southcoast this weekend and Seastreak says they are preparing for the worst.

With wet, windy weather predicted for Sunday night through Tuesday, things could get messy for travelers to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

New Bedford plans to close the hurricane barrier on Sunday night in preparation for the stormy weather and that would mean ferries to and from the islands would be halted.

Seastreak general manager, John Silvia spoke with WPRI 12 about their plan in case the barriers stay closed throughout the holiday weekend.

He told the TV station that they do have a Plan B for travelers saying they "would send [their] passengers back on the steamship to Hyannis and Wood’s Hole, and then motorcoach them back to New Bedford so they could get their cars."

Of course if the storm gets bad enough, travelers would just have to stay where they are until it passes and sea travel is safe.
