Remember this positive story we told you about just before Christmas?  After the two New York City police officers were shot and killed, the Nicastro family of New Bedford delivered cards and flowers to the New Bedford police. Well, they will be officially been honored with a citation (the good kind!).

When the two New York officers were shot on December 20th in their cars, Johnny Nicastro felt like he had to honor the police in some way.

“We were horrified, angry, frustrated,” he said. “I thought we should do something positive. We can’t have police feeling that people don’t like them or hate them enough to shoot them." So, He, his wife Shannon and their two children Roman and Olivia, went down to the local police department and gave them all cards and flowers. A very sweet and caring gesture.

According to SouthCoastToday, in order to say thank you to the family, New Bedford police has giving them a citation to show their gratitude. Ward 2 Councilor Steven Martins suggested the citation and was quoted in saying, "I’ve always felt we have one of the best police departments in the state," he said. "I think we should support our police officers who have a very tough, thankless job. Many of them leave home each day not knowing if they will come back.”
