New Bedford Cops Looking For Purse Snatchers

A woman had her purse stolen by 2 men as she took her groceries to her car in the Stop and Shop parking lot on Dartmouth Street in New Bedford on Saturday.   She told police that one man came up behind her and grabbed the purse from her shoulder, and then took of on Jenkins Street with another man.

The purse contained cash, a cell phone and the woman's id's.  Her cell phone was found later at Rivet and Hemlock street, and the purse was found at Rivet and County streets.  Some of the contents were missing. 

The woman told police that the man who took her purse is Hispanic, about 5'11', and is in his 20's.   The other person is a thin black man in his 20's.   Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Tyrone Jones at 508-991-6300, extension 134.
