Hitting the beach in New Bedford doesn't just have to mean laying around in the sand all day. There's new ways to enjoy a day at the beach!

This summer you can have some serious fun without shelling out a lot of cash.

And by that I mean paddleboards and kayaks can now be rented at West Beach, so you don't have to buy one (or try to store one) to get out on the water.

The New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches folks are helping you try out these fun, fitness things all summer long.

You can already rent bikes in Fairhaven and swan boats in Buttonwood Park...now kayaks and stand up paddleboards. What would you want to be next?

Need a class before the rental? Get to NBPRB.com to get the full schedule of classes like Zumba, PiYo and Stand Up Paddlingboarding at the beach.

The paddleboarding classes seem to be every weekend at West Beach starting this Saturday (July 7th) and running every Saturday through July 28th.

And if you've paddleboarded before, up your game with SUP Yoga! Those classes start July 7th as well and run every Saturday, ending July 28th.

All classes need to be registered and paid for, which you can do online or in person at New Bedford Parks and Rec.

And you can get more details on all the classes and rentals available this summer at the New Bedford Parks, Recreation & Beaches website.
