This may get your attention if you work hard for your money around here. Area workers are earning nearly $2 an hour less than the national average, with high concentrations of low-paying jobs and lower than average pay across the work spectrum, according to Southcoast Today and a federal labor study. It turns out that workers in the New Bedford area which also includes Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, Gosnold, Mattapoisett and Rochester, received an average wage of $20.35, compared with the nationwide average of $22.01.

That just doesn't sit well with us. What say you?
