If you've ever visited the New Bedford regional Airport on a sunny weekend afternoon, you've no doubt seen families enjoying a picnic on the grass-strip between the public parking lot and the tarmac.  Well now, the airport is even a more family-friendly place to visit.  There's a beautiful new playground on that piece of land.

For the past 3 years, the airport's Michael Knabbe, the Atlantic Aviators, and many volunteers have worked to raise the $175,000 needed to build a state-of-the-art playground at the airport.   It was designed by a company based in Medifeld, MA, and has a control tower which features a cloud-climber.  The playground also has a jungle gym biplane, helicopters, spring-rider airplanes, and X grass for safety.

The New Bedford Airport also has the observation deck at the terminal building, and now this to playground to make it even more welcoming to families.  Do yourself a favor, and take advantage of it.
