1. Create an online presence.

Social media these days has taken over in almost every realm of our social lives and it's no different in the work place!  An online profile allows your to showcase yourself and all of your talents and experiences and allows you to connect with others you wouldn't normally be able to connect with!

2. Be consistent.

Just be sure that all of your dates and experiences match up between your Facebook, LinkedIn and any other sites so future employers don't think you're wishy-washy!

3. Google yourself.

It sounds silly, but it helps!  Just type in your name and see what comes up.  Personal posts, tweets and photos can show up if you don't make them private.

4. Be Careful what you post.

Don't post anything that you wouldn't want future employers seeing...like, complaints about your job or your boss or coworkers, etc.

5. Always be ready.

Be proactive in your field!  It's so easy to do on social media- just join groups on Facebook, or contribute to discussions. This is another way for people to get to know you and see your expertise in the area!

6. Build your reputation.

Network, newtwork, NETWORK! It's so important to actively engage in networking, any way you can. Help people out, pay it forward...you never know when it's gonna come back around to help you!

So if you're ready to move up or on, these tips should help you to get back on track!
