Sixteen New Bedford schools are showing great improvement with increased percentile rankings, which compare the overall student performance in schools across the state. "The results show that the school district is moving in the right direction, this according to New Bedford Schools Superintendent," Pia Durkin said.

Two schools, in particular, Taylor and Pulaski elementary schools, improved to the state's top accountability ranking. Both Swift and Pulaski are now ranked as level 1 schools.  In fact, Pulaski jumped two levels from level 3 to level 1.

“Christmas came early for the New Bedford public schools,’’ a smiling Durkin said in her office shortly after the numbers became public.

This is certainly exciting news for the teachers, staff and students in the New Bedford Public School System.
