Mysterious Loud Bang In New Bedford

An un-explainable loud noise rattled the city of New Bedford early Tuesday morning on June 28th, 2016.

Summer night's in New Bedford means there are more likely to be open windows throughout the city; mine being one of them.

The head of my bed is right up against my window and this mysterious loud bang woke me immediately, springing me to my feet.

Afraid to look outside, I quickly checked my phone to see if inclement weather was upon us... Safe to say that there was not a cloud in the sky.

New to New Bedford, I've heard my fair share of gunshots and illegal fireworks, but this sounded like neither. This was more of an eerie, yet muffled bang, perhaps from the sound of metal clashing like a car accident.... Yet, there was no accidents reported.

Police are aware of the situation, but are unable to detect the exact where-abouts or cause of the bang.

I will end this commentary by stating the fact that the sound was of nothing I have heard before, in fact it was a bit alien and unfamiliar to my senses. After "YouTubing" numerous videos with sound effects, I came across a few sounds that were distinctively close to what I heard at the wee hours of Tuesday morning, around 1 AM.

Don't quote me on this, for it is only an opinion.... But the closest sound to the "Bang" that  I could find, was of that from a half-stick of an M-80 piece of dynamite or perhaps a Sonic Boom from a Fighter Jet (Don't forget how close we live to an airbase). Again, this is only a guess and an opinion.

My only hopes from all this is that just MAYBE.... The culprit or a witness of the "Bang" admits, comes forward and/or informs the community of the TRUTH!
