The late 80's highway killings are still unsolved and now a local documentary team is working to give this complex case a new angle.

the murders happened 28 years ago. Nine women were found murdered along New Bedford area highways and the killer has never been caught.

All nine of the known highway murders victims battled drug abuse and the filmmakers believe that's how the highway killer chose his victims.

According to Fox25, the filmmakers have spent a year and a half just researching the highway murders timeline. Despite a very public grand jury investigation and the emergence of several suspects, the case is still unsolved. They are interviewing as many people as they can to understand the full story behind these murders.  Their movie makers' ultimate goal is to garner a lead that can solve the murders

The film called "The Highway Murders" will hopefully be released in 2017. The trailer was released on April 23rd and features different eye witnesses for the case.
