Lawyers say it was jealousy that led to the murder of a 70-year-old Wareham man.

John Williams was found shot to death inside his Glen Charlie Road home on Tuesday and a suspect was arraigned in Wareham District Court on Friday.

According to The Standard Times, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J Cruz told reporters at the arraignment of 70-year-old John Wittey that it was jealously that led to this murder.

Cruz says prosecutors believe Wittey violently killed Williams after learning the victim had a relationship with his late, long-time girlfriend Judith Harris.

Wittey had been with Harris for 25 years until her recent death on January 22nd.

After she passed, he learned of her infidelity with Williams and murdered him in a fit of jealousy.

An autopsy was performed on Williams and it found that he had been shot 10 times in the head and back. He also had stab wounds on his hands, which are said to be defensive in nature.

Wittey has entered a not guilty plea to murder charges and was ordered held without bail at his arraignment on Friday. His case will be continued on March 14th in Wareham District Court.
