After years of silence, Monica Lewinsky is finally speaking out about her affair with former President Bill Clinton. The affair first came to light back in 1998, when Monica Lewinsky was an intern at the White House. It was January 26th of that year when President Clinton uttered those famous words, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky" in a nationally televised news conference.

That was 16 years ago, and Monica Lewinsky's life has never been the same since. For the first time in about 10 years, she's speaking out about the affair in Vanity Fair magazine, saying “It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress.” She also says: “I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.”

She opens up a lot about her past and how it has affected her life, both personally and professionally.  She maintains the fact that the relationship she had with President Clinton was 'consensual between two adults' and in no way was she forced into anything.

Lewinsky stayed quiet for so long, that people just assumed the Clinton's 'paid her off'.  She claims they in no way paid her off and that she actually struggled financially very much.  The scandal affected her career, making it difficult to find jobs, or have employers just flat out tell her that she wasn't 'quite right' for a position because of her 'history'.

I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.

Monica says the reason she is opening up about her story is to hopefully help others in their 'darkest moments of humiliation' through what she's been through.

I have to honestly say, I feel bad for her.  Granted, she made her bed and now she's laying it, I get that.  However, this scandal has basically owned her life!  No one deserves that.  She says she get recognized EVERY DAY!  Can you even imagine, being recognized every single day of your life for something you did wrong YEARS ago that you highly regret and has made you the butt of tons of jokes over the years?  I cannot even imagine for a second how terrible that must feel.   When you hear the name 'Monica Lewinsky' you know her for ONE thing and that ONE thing isn't a great thing to be known for.  It's crazy to think that one mistake she made back when she was a young intern, has impacted her entire life.

I give her all the credit in the world for facing the music and coming forward with her story.  I hope she is able to find peace and happiness going forward.  You can read her entire story here:
