The Silver City Galleria in Taunton is displaying an interactive exhibit that displays a mockup of a typical teenage bedroom.

District Attorney Tom Quinn told WBSM News that the exhibit shows how seemingly innocuous items can be used as a way to hide the signs of alcohol or drug use.

"For example, in a contact lens case, pills can be concealed," said Quinn "other things such as air freshener and different things are there just to show how they are used to mask drug use."

Quinn says the exhibit isn't intended to frighten parents, but rather to help them spot a potential problem so they can react in a timely manner.

"In one sense it's very concerning," said Quinn "but I think it's a practical, real way of raising awareness so that there can be intervention before a problem gets out of control."

The "Hidden in Plain Sight" display is open to adults 21 and older and will be on the second floor above center court between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.

The display is being hosted in collaboration with the Silver City Galleria, Macy's, and the Taunton Opiate Task Force.
