Due to the government shutdown, which is in its third day, NASA's "Mission To Mars" could be delayed up to two years.

NASA's next mission to the red planet is in danger of being delayed this long because the timeframe in which they could launch is small.

The mission is set to get under way next month on the 18th, and has a 20 day launch window. If it misses that opportunity, the team will have to wait more than two years for their next chance to launch, The shutdown has already had an effect on preparations for the Mars mission,

Some say that the missions are a total waste of money anyway. Do you think so, or do you still these missions are vital in the future of our own planet?
