And the winner is.....

Alyssa Maitoza!  Alyssa is a 16-year-old student at Dartmouth High School. She is in her junior year and her platform for the year ahead is titled, “The Arts in Action.”

Alyssa and her entorauge stopped by The Rock and Fox Show this morning and shared with us and our Fun 107 listeners her experience competing this past Saturday night.  The Miss New Bedford Outatanding Teen pagent was held at Greater New Bedford Vocational-Technical High School in front of a large audience of friends, family, classmates and the press.

Alyssa first handled the interview portion of the competition then moved on to the fitness challenge, she danced for her talent piece, then of course the evening gown competition and finally her on stage question.  She was asked where does she see the arts direction in New Bedfords future.  She answered with wanting to work hard at helping to keep the arts alive with after school arts programs and seeing the downtown New Bedford AHA nights stay successful.  Alyssa's platform is Arts In Action, something she is very passionate about.

Alyssa received scholarship money as part of her winnings from the competition.  She plans to put that away to use towards college and is excited to get working on her platform this year, reaching as many people as she can.
