Miss America Winner Brings Out Racist Remarks on Twitter

Miss America was crowned on Sunday, and Twitter exploded with a bunch of racist rants.

Miss New York , Nina Devuluri, who is an Indian, won the competion. Twitter was then bombarded with users making racist comments about Nina being of Indian descent by calling her Arab and calling her "Miss Terrorist", "Miss Al Qaeda", and "Miss 7-11." The 24-year-old has now come out with a response to all of the hate.

She responded by saying....

"I'm so happy this organization has embraced diversity. I'm thankful there are children watching at home who can finally relate to a new Miss America." When asked about the bigotry, she responded, "I have to rise above that. I always viewed myself as first and foremost American."

Some of the backlash even came from people who claimed Nina victory was a slap in the fact to victims of the September 11th attacks. One user wrote, "nice slap in the face to the people of 9-11 how pathetic #missamerica"
