Max’s Burgers in Dartmouth has re-opened their doors to both Burger and Beer Connoisseurs.

The small local business opened up on the Southcoast 7 years ago, but wasn't always in Dartmouth. The owner Steve Ginsberg started off on Rockdale Ave in New Bedford and decided to name his business after his son, Max (hence the name 'Max's'). Max is a huge help around the restaurant as he seems to do it all! He cooks, waits tables, bartends and at the age of 21, he's following his Father's footsteps and already heading in the right direction.

After being in business in New Bedford for a year, Steve packed up shop and moved over to North Dartmouth in the small plaza next door to Gumbos, across the street from the T.J. Maxx plaza and diagonal from the Brazilian Grill.

For 6 years, the small business was exactly that.... small. Finally, Steve decided to make some changes to the family business and closed down shop for renovations for the month of January, 2017. What he had planned was sure to make a statement here on the Southcoast.

On January 30th, 2017, Max's opened their doors to the public again with a whole new facelift and of course... a 13-Tap bar constructed right into the bar wall.

"We wanted to grow so people could come in to sit down and enjoy their food in a non-crowded establishment. Before we re-opened, we were small and could only seat about 15 people, now we can comfortably sit 50." Steve said.

Not only can you enjoy a delicious hand-crafted burger, but what what better combination than to wash it down with an ice-cold draft beer! With the newly-enstated liquor license, Max's is the new home to 13 brews (Domestic, Imported, Craft and Local beers such as Buzzards Bay Brewing). Enjoy a glass or share a pitcher with some friends. Hold the phone.... I think I'm in love.

I asked Steve what made him decide to go through with this project and he replied:

"We wanted to bring in the concept of having craft beers on tap. There's nothing better than a beer and a burger."

14 Signature hand-crafted burgers make up the menu and each one is as juicy and delicious as the next. Max's fries and onion rings (strings) are hand-cut and lightly battered/seasoned to perfection. The 'Cattleman Burger' (BBQ Sauce, Onion Rings and Cheese) is a customer favorite and after trying it, I could instantly understand why.

Looking for a great side app to share amongst friends and family? Give their hand-battered Blooming Onion a shot! The Chipotle-Ranch dipping sauce is a perfect paring.

Not in the mood for a burger? I have to be honest, the Buffalo Chicken wings were out of this world! According to Steve, the chicken is "Out of this world!"

“It's phenomenal, the chicken is fresh everyday and if you love chicken wings, especially the buffalo chicken strips, you’ll love what we bring to the table with out alll white meat chicken tenders."

As I looked around the place I noticed photography that layered the walls around the restaurant that portrayed local landmarks here on the Southcoast. Out of curiosity, I had to ask who's work it was and Steve replied with a shocking answer...

"Everything you see is local Art captured by New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School students, taught by Professor Keith Francis. We bought the photos from the kids in honor of (former teacher) George Heath, in which all the money was donated to the George Heath Scholarship Fund."

If you're in the area and you're looking for something new to try, may I highly suggest Max's, located at 405 State Rd in North Dartmouth. They're open Sunday-Wednesday (11 AM-9 PM) and Thursday-Saturday (11AM-10:30 PM). Every Tuesday is BYOB (Build your own burger) where you $4.00 gets you any topping, as many toppings as you would like with the purchase of a fountain drink!

“This is a big deal for us on Tuesdays, always brings a good crowd whether it’s lunch or dinner”.

As I end this Blog, I'll admit that I'm stuffed (Yes, I ordered everything you see above and it was completely worth every bite)!
