Ok, so it wasn't really the horse that gave this sweet little boy the ultimate Christmas gift, but Max's owner, Julie. Her family came together to get Cole this quad as a special thanks for his sacrifice and the kindness he showed Max.

On Saturday, Julie posted on Facebook: "Everything happens for a reason! The night we found out Max got shot, we thought we were going to have to put him down. But with all the kind hearts and everyone's support, Max is in one of the best equine hospitals receiving amazing care. Out of something horrible, something beautiful is really becoming! I've been able to meet great people and have learned some pretty amazing lessons about life. Cole has taught me one of them! As a young boy he has been able to put behind his needs for the needs of others. To give everything he has to help a little horse he's never even met! All this reminds me of LK 10:27 .. Treat others how you would like to be treated.. So even though I'm upset about what happened to Max, all I can do is accept life as it is and treat others with such kindness as Cole did and be so thankful for everyone's support for our little horse! With that said, Cole got his 4-wheeler and was riding like a pro!"
