BOSTON - If your car registration is about to expire or you have to pay a traffic fine, you only have a few days to do so before the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles closes down for four days.

MassRMV says it will be replacing it's central computer system with a new system called ATLAS. MassRMV's website states that ATLAS "will provide customers with an easier, quicker, and more convenient customer experience whether they engage with the RMV in person, on the web, by mail, or by phone."

The system will be installed beginning Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m., and will continue through Monday, March 26, until 8 a.m.. During that time, all Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles locations throughout the state will be closed. In addition to the site closures, MassRMV.com will be inaccessible, meaning you will not be able to perform any transactions online.
