MASSDOT has halted all work on major roadways ahead of tomorrow's impending storm. A move that should help holiday commuters as well.

With rain and snow expected for tomorrow, state transportation officials say as of today (Tuesday) all work on major state roadways has come to a halt.

MASSDOT acting secretary Frank Depaolo says that with the timing of tomorrow's storm, they don't want construction work on the roads to cause any additional traffic and congestion on what is already one of the heaviest travel days of the year.

Work on these halted projects will resume on Monday after the holiday weekend is over and officials are urging travelers to adjust their plans to avoid the storm as well.
