wcvb.com reports that 1/4 of the accidents that occur in MA occur in the left turn lane. Some believe that this is because the "Left Turn Yield On Green" sign is a bit confusing.

In replacement, traffic lights will now include a flashing yellow arrow that will show up right after the green light goes out. The state claims this is all to increase the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

This new addition has worked in other states, having reduced the amount of accidents by 2%.

People have mixed reactions about this. Some think it's a great plan to get rid of the confusion, while others just think it's going to cause more confusion, especially since people are going to have to adjust to seeing the new lights.

The yellow arrow is set to make its debut on Massachusetts roads soon after the new year and it will take a couple of years for the other 350 of them to be put up.
