Police in Newton sent out a phone alert asking for the public's help in finding 18-year-old Karen Douglas.   They said they don't believe foul play is involved, but the girl has not been seen or heard from since Thursday afternoon.

Douglas' parents said they did not know Karen was missing until they went to a parent/teacher conference at Newton-North High School Thursday evening.  That's when they were told their daughter had missed some of her classes that day.  Later, they found her car in the school parking lot, with the keys still inside.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Douglas had gone to the Cabot Woods area of Newton with some friends earlier.  Police say they have done an extensive search of that area using K9 units and State Police helicopters, with no results.  The girls is described as 5'11", with brown hair and brown eyes.   Police say she may be wearing a concert-type T-shirt, black yoga pants and a beige sweater.
