A Cohasset man fell down an abandoned well in his yard Wednesday night and it took nearly two dozen firefighters to get him out.

The unnamed 37-year-old man was walking outside his Cohasset apartment on Ripley Road when he fell 15- to 20-feet down a stone shaft.

Luckily a family member heard him calling for help and call 9-1-1.

The Cohasset Fire Department along with the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team arrived on the scene and got to work getting him out.

The man was conscious and alert during the rescue and was flown to a Boston hospital via MedFlight.

No word yet on his name or extent of his injuries.
