Massachusetts Doesn’t Actually Have the Worst Drivers

Contrary to our reputation, Massachusetts drivers are actually not the worst in the country. Far from it.

According to Smart Asset, on American highways, it's not uncommon for someone to look at the license plate of a near-accident causer and think, "Of course they’re from Massachusetts."

In reality, Massachusetts doesn't break the top ten or even the top 25. We are actually number 48 on the list. Surprised?

The ranking is based on data pertaining to:

• Percentage of people isnsured
• DUI per 1,000 drivers
• Deaths per 1,000 drivers
• Google trends on driving tickets

According to the data, here are the states where you'll find the WORST drivers:

1. Florida
2. Mississippi
3. Oklahoma
4. New Jersey
5. Delaware
