Massachusetts Could Be Getting New ID’s

Calling all new driver's license applicants...

WLLP reports that in order to put Massachusetts more on the track with federal policies, Governor Charlie Baker is proposing measures that would help people to fulfill the requirements of the REAL ID Act.

A REAL ID is an identification used as a valid way to get into federal buildings and once enforcement starts, it will be used to board domestic flights. Governor Baker claims that this proposed piece of legislation will help to allow Massachusetts residents to meet the standards required set by the federal government.

Once the law is enacted, all new driver's license and Massachusetts ID applicants will need to meet the REAL ID requirements in order to obtain a license or ID. Those who already have a Massachusetts license or identification card may either keep their card or get a new one.
