Having driven across the United States twice in the past few years, I've noticed that most states use their license plates as somewhat of a promotional decal.  They have an attractive design and include either a slogan, an image of something the state is known for, or even the state tourism web address.  Massachusetts is not one of those states.

Many of the special plates (Patriots, Red Sox, Pets, etc) look great, but most drivers choose not to pay extra for those.  The basic plates should be used to better promote this beautiful region of the country.

My car still has Arizona plates as they have not yet expired.  Great design and a promo for one of the country's biggest tourist attractions.  Check out the ones below.

Other states, including New York, New Jersey and California could also use an upgrade.  But I know, it's just a license plate, and who notices?  Guess I do.
