We've told you about Mark Wahlberg looking for a pardon from Governor Patrick for some charges he faced just before his 17th birthday.  You might be surprised to hear why he is looking for the pardon.  According to TMZ, Marky Mark wants to be a cop!  He says he fell in love with the idea while researching his roles for The Departed and The Other Guys.

Wahlberg wants to be a reserve cop in L.A.

MyFoxBoston.com reports that Wahlberg submitted a petition to the pardon review board, which will then go to Governor Deval Patrick to approve, and then confirmed by the Governor's council.

With so many factors involved in the decision, Gov. Patrick isn't promising Wahlberg will see his record cleaned off. Both Gov. Patrick and new Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker are saying Wahlberg has to go through the same legal process as everyone else.

In 1988, Wahlberg was charged with criminal contempt, assault and battery, and possession of drugs, all just before he turned 17 years-old. He was given two years in prison, but only served 45 days.

While the criminal record doesn't exactly effect Wahlberg's acting career, it does matter to the Wahlberg family restaurant, Wahlburgers.

The family announced they plan to open 27 new locations across America, and hope to eventually have 300 restaurants nationwide.
