wcvb.com reports that Wahlberg is seeking a pardon from the governor for the assaults he committed as a young adult back in his hometown of Dorchester in 1988.

Wahlberg says that the charges still affect him greatly.

Wahlberg hit a man in the head with a wooden stick at the tender age of 16, while trying to steal a case of alcohol from a convenient store. He left the man blind in one eye.

He later committed several other assaults that landed him in jail for 45 days.

Wahlberg has also admitted to use of marijuana and other narcotics at the time of many of the incidents.

In his application, Wahlberg expresses his concern for the victim and believes that since the incident, he has turned his life around.

"I have not engaged in philanthropic efforts in order to make people forget about my past," Wahlberg wrote in his application. "To the contrary, I want people to remember my past so that I can serve as an example of how lives can be turned around and how people can be redeemed."

In order to get a pardon, the Massachusetts Parole Board would have to review Wahlberg's application, make a recommendation to the governor who ultimately has the decision on the pardon.

Pardons are rarely granted in Massachusetts so best of luck to Marky Mark!
