Victoria McGrath, a Boston Marathon bombing survivor, and another student from Northeastern University were killed in an overseas car crash.

NECN is reporting that Northeastern University issued a statement confirming their deaths and expressing condolences to the family.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Victoria McGrath and Priscilla Perez Torres in this extremely difficult time," said the statement.

McGrath was five feet away from the first bomb when it went off in 2013, and injured her leg.

A former U.S. Army officer happened to be in the area at the time and used a T-shirt to tie a tourniquet on her leg, she was carried to a medical tent by a Boston firefighter.

The photo of her being carried to the medical tent became one of the most iconic images of the marathon bombings.
