Man, Child Found Sleeping in New Bedford Storage Unit

NEW BEDFORD — Police responded to U-Haul Truck Rentals and Storage, 415 Mt. Pleasant St., on a report that an adult male and his two-year-old child were sleeping in a storage unit at the location. This was particularly concerning because of the hot weather conditions.

When police arrived to question the male, he became argumentative and uncooperative.

Police arrested Frank Luis Ortiz, 22, of Cranston, R.I., on charges of reckless endangerment of a child under 18, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer. The child was released to the custody of the mother.

The arrest was made at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday, July 17.
