Police have arrested a Taunton man and charged him with a hate crime, intimidation of a witness, desecration of a place of worship, breaking and entering and larceny.  29-year-old Martin Cutler of Broadway Avenue in Taunton was picked up at his apartment on Saturday.  St. John the Baptist Church was broken into sometime between March 1st and 2nd, sacred items were damaged, and other religious items were stolen.  Police had been investigating the crime when they received a tip from Police in Mattapoisett that stolen artifacts from the church were hidden in their town.  Those items were found along with others that were located at Cutler's mother's house in New Bedford.   Police are also saying that at least 8 people took part in either the theft or the hiding of the stolen items.  They expect to make additional arrests in the case.
